Many of you may have been wondering where in the world Brown Eyed Girls’ Narsha’s name originally came from. It’s not the typical Korean name, it sounds foreign, not that Western either, making many K-Pop fans question – what exactly does it mean?

Well, we finally got the answer from Narsha herself yesterday, as she tweeted the actual meaning of her name in commemoration of Hangeul Day, or Korean Day, on October 9.

“I feel so proud of my name today. Anyways, (our manager) that came up with this great name, I hope he’s doing well somewhere? I’m thankful once again.”

Narsha, unlike its “foreign” pronunciation, is an original Korean word. It contains meanings of “flying high” or “soaring.”
