New Kdramas to Look Forward to Before 2012 Ends

From “The Moon that Embraces the Sun” to “Rooftop Prince” to “Queen In Hyun’s Man,” 2012 has been another great year of memorable kdramas. With only two and a half months until the year’s end, we decided to take a look at what the last batch of kdramas were before the year was over.

“The King of Dramas”

Cast: Kim Myung Min, Jung Ryeo Won, Choi Si Won, and more
Episodes: TBA
Premiere date: November 5, 2012
Air time: Mondays & Tuesdays 9:55pM KST
Replaces:  “Faith”

Once Lee Min Ho’s “Faith” wraps up, star-studded series “The King of Dramas” will take over its time-slot on  SBS. Kim Myung Min, Jung Ryeo Won, and Choi Si Won (Super Junior) make their long-awaited small screen comeback with a drama that takes a looking to the world of drama production. Choi Si Won will play A-list actor Kang Hyun Min, who’s loved for his intelligent and sophisticated image. While he’s known for his manners publicly, he’s quite the diva. Kim Myung Min plays Anthony Kim, a talented producer who believes dramas should be profitable in ordered to be considered a success. Jung Ryeo Won plays Lee Go Eun, a rookie writer who believes dramas should portray humanity.  

“I Miss You”

Premiere date: November 2012
Air time: Wednesdays & Thursdays 9:55PM KST
Replaces: “Arang and the Magistrate”

Park Yoo Chun (JYJ) and Yoon Eun Hye pair up for new melodrama “I Miss You.” Yoon Eun Hye plays Lee Soo Yeon, the first love of Park Yoo Chun’s Han Jung Woo. They fell in love at the tender age of fifteen but had their love snatched away from them. They continue to live their lives as they keep their broken hearts and true feelings hidden from the world. “I Miss You” is described as a traditional melodrama about the two as they undergo a hide-and-seek-love. “I Miss You” will replace “Arang and the Magistrate” on MBC early next month. 

“Jeon Woo Chi”

Cast: Cha Tae Hyun, Uee, Seo Dong Il, Lee Hee Joon, and more
Episodes: TBA
Premiere date: November 21, 2012
Air time: Wednesdays & Thursdays 9:55PM KST
Replaces: “Nice Guy”

A remake of the popular fantasy movie “Jeon Woo Chi,” the drama of the same name stars Cha Tae Hyun and Uee (After School) as leads. Cha Tae Hyun will be playing the titular role of Jeon Woo Chi, who swallows a Gumiho’s bead, giving him Taoist magic. He buses his powers to help rescue the people from famine and tyrannical government, becoming a legendary hero in Joseon. Uee will take on the role of Princess Hong Mu Yeon, the granddaughter of Hong Gil Dong and Jeon Woo Chi’s love interest. 

“Alice in Cheongdamdong”

Cast: Park Shi Hoo, Moon Geun Young, So Yi Hyun, Shin So Yul, and more
Episodes: TBA
Premiere date: December 2012
Air time: Saturdays & Sundays 9:50PM KST
Replaces: “Five Fingers” 

Moon Geun Young will romance Park Shi Hoo in new SBS series “Alice in Cheongdam.” He will play Cha Seung Jo, the youngest Korean president of Artemis, the leading luxury goods distribution company. He doesn’t trust women after a bad breakup, but deep deep down, he’s still a romanticist who believes in true love. Moon Geun Young’s Han Se Kyung is a positive and ambitious woman from a rather modest background who struggles to marry into one of many wealthy families in Gangnam to become a Cheongdamdong daughter-in-law. “Alice in Cheongdam” will follow Joo Ji Hoon’s “Five Fingers’ on SBS.
