Weekly K-Pop Music Chart 2012 – October Week 3

G-Dragon reclaims the top spot this week with “Crayon.” This song was No. 1 two weeks ago but lost a close battle to Orange Caramel’s “Lipstick” last week. This week the same two songs exchange positions again with G-Dragon winning by nine points. Secret’s “Poison” remains No. 3.

There are two new songs in the top 10 this week. Entering right below the top three at No. 4 is Ga In’s solo hit “Bloom”, moving up 13 spots from last week. This is the title song from her latest mini-album “Talk About S.” “Bloom” is a song written by Lee Min Soo and Kim Ina who wrote most of Brown Eyed Girls’ group and members’ solo hit songs. It compares women’s love with a blooming flower. It is a lively number with honest lyrics. “Bloom” already took No. 1 on M!Countdown this week and has a great chance to be our next No. 1 song.

The other new song is at the bottom of the top 10 and is the debut track from rookie female duo 15&. They consist of K-Pop Star winner Park Ji Min and Star King’s heroine Baek Ye Rin. Both girls came from talent competitions, so there are no doubts about their singing skills despite their young age. Their first single “I Dream” was composed by Shim Eun Ji and penned by Kim Eun Soo. The song is a pop ballad number with powerful vocals. Listeners of the song will be surprised by the skills of these two 15 year olds.

Comment: Magolpy is back after nearly six years with a single album that she produced herself. Back in 2007, Magolpy created a lot of hype with her debut single “Flying Girl”. But she has gone quiet since then. Now she is back and her passion is very pervasive in this ballad single “Love Does Not Linger”. She held local open auditions to find great rappers for this song, which goes to Y-Brothers. Magolpy took all responsibilities; from recordings, training, design of the album cover, to the music video scenario. Fans should be delighted of her long awaited comeback.
