IU's Next Duet Partner Is 2AM's Jo Kwon?

2AM‘s Jo Kwon recently made a new twitter post teasing IU about her track “The Day’s End” that read, “IU, have you listened to “The Day’s End” at a lower pitch? Because if you did, you might mistake your voice for my own! You really ought to listen to it! I think I should cover it sometime to show you how strikingly similar our voices are.” IU shot back a good-humored response with the surprising proposal, “Oppa, let’s have a duet sometime” to which Jo Kwon affirmed positively, “Let’s do it! I’m already looking forward to it.” 

If the duet project were to move forward as proposed on twitter, it would certainly be a hotly anticipated one considering the duet experience the two singers bring to the table – most notably IU who has enjoyed immense success with duet partners such as 2AM’s Seulong, Sung Si Kyung, Yoon Sang, Ra.D and Lee Juk. There has even been a popular saying that any male artist to duet with IU will experience tremendous success. 

Netizens who saw the twitter posts remarked, “I wonder if IU decided to collaborate with Jokwon because he has such a sweet voice”, “Instead of joking about it on twitter, you two ought to seriously consider performing a duet together”, “Fantasy duet couple” and “If they really did release a duet together I’m sure it would be amazing.”

It remains to be seen whether the two singers will decide to seriously pursue a duet track release together, but in the meantime fans can only fantasize of the possibility.
