BEG’s Ga In Reveals Secret to Success Behind “Abracadabra”

The Brown Eyed Girls’ Ga In revealed the secret behind the massive success of “Abracadabra,” the group’s first major hit track from 2009. “Abracadabra,” the title track of their third full length album, drastically changed the BEG’s image and style of music, and reportedly generated over $10 million USD in revenue.

So what exactly happened to bring fame and success? Ga In revealed on the October 23 episode of SBS “Strong Heart,” “It was our dorm room change that led us to our success.”

She continued, “My parents didn’t want me to move to our old dorm because apparently it had negative Chinese geomancy, or Feng shui, implications. Maybe my parents were right because we didn’t experience much success while living there. So after much contemplation, we decided to move to a new dorm.”

“Right after we moved, our new album hit daebak (massive success),” she said, referring to the album that included, “Abracadabra.”

She added there was another group that experienced the same type of success right after switching dorms. “There was another girl group in the same building, but they also succeeded right after they moved. That girl group became a big hit overseas after they moved…that group is Kara,” Ga In added.

Netizens commented, “Oh wow, this makes me want to study Chinese geomancy,” “BEG and Kara? Where is this old place?” and “Maybe I should considering moving too.”
