Singer JOO Cast in Musical "Catch Me if You Can"

JOO, one of the artists in JYP Entertainment’s stable makes a foray into acting. Local news agencies report the singer is cast in the forthcoming staging of “Catch Me if You Can” the musical. JOO is set to play Brenda, the lead character’s love interest.

The character was once played by Girls’ Generation‘s Sunny, who reprises the role in the upcoming run. Aside from JOO and Sunny, CSJH’s Dana and Oh Sang Eun will alternate to play Brenda.

“Catch Me if You Can” is the Broadway musical adaptation of the film of the same name, which starred Leonardo di Caprio as the lead character Frank Abagnale, Jr. The musical gained much attention when it was first staged in Korea in the first half of the year, mostly due to the K-Pop artists in the cast. Super Junior’s Kyuhyun and SHINee’s Key were among those who alternated to play Frank.

“Catch Me if You Can” will run at the Seongnam Art Center Opera House from December 14 until February 9, 2013.
