History Is Made as PSY's "Gangnam Style" Becomes #1 Most Watched Video on YouTube

It has finally happened and the man has done it once again – world star PSY makes another historical record by becoming the most watched video on YouTube of all time in the shortest period of time. In just a mere 133 days, “Gangnam Style” became the #1 watched video on YouTube.

As of November 24, PSY’s “Gangnam Style” video has over 805 million views, which surpassed the previous #1 video, “Baby” by Justin Bieber. Justin Bieber’s “Baby” currently has over 803 million views. Justin Bieber’s “Baby” broke the 800 millionth view on November 16 but has given up its #1 spot to PSY just a week later.

PSY’s achievement is especially significant because this record was made in the shortest period of time in history. Justin Bieber’s “Baby” was uploaded on February 19, 2010 and had achieved the 800 millionth mark after 33 months. On the other hand, PSY reached this mark in a mere 4 months.

“Gangnam Style” was first released on July 15 and had surpassed its 100 millionth hit in just 52 days. A sudden craze swept across the globe as we found our horse-riding hero traveling endlessly across the continents to promote his hit viral single.

Other videos in the Top 10 list of the most watched videos on YouTube include Jennifer Lopez‘s “On The Floor,” which was released last March, Eminem‘s “Love The Way You Lie,” which was released on August of 2010. Others include Lady Gaga and LMFAO, which were all released in 2010-2011.

“Gangnam Style” had entered into the famed Guiness Book of World Records by becoming the most liked video on YouTube as well.

Meanwhile, PSY’s “Gangnam Style” is still going strong on the Billboard charts as it ranks at #7 at the moment. “Gangnam Style” is still #1 on the US iTunes chart as well. PSY had attended various awards shows such as the MTV VMAs, the MTV EMAs and the AMAs.
