JYJ's Management Agency Releases Official Response Regarding JYJ-SME Court Decision

On November 28, SM Entertainment and JYJ agreed to end their legal dispute that last for three years and four months. The agreement states that the two party has decided to expire their previous contract as of July 31, 2009 and not interfere with each other’s business in the future.  

Previously, the three members of JYJ filed a suit against SM Entertainment to stop the effects of their unlawful exclusive contract on July 31, 2009. When the court decided to accept JYJ’s request for injunction, they have been working separately from SM Entertainment. Later, SM Entertainment filed a suit against JYJ in April 2010 to continue the effects of their exclusive contract and ask for appropriate monetary compensation. JYJ responded with another lawsuit against the company verifying the nonexistence of such contract. 

CEO Baek Chang Joo of JYJ’s management agency C-JeS Entertainment announced, “This final decision of agreement arbitration is really a concession we made since we have been considering this battle won since three years ago when the court accepted our request for injunction. Since SM Entertainment’s interference with JYJ’s career is not much of a legal dispute than a fight between David and Goliath, we do not expect much difference after the court’s decision.”  

He added, “JYJ will continue to be the trailblazer of their own paths as they have been doing. We hope to see some improvements in JYJ’s previously limited opportunities and would like to thank all the domestic and overseas fans for their unconditional love and support.”
