Bill O’Reilly Calls PSY “Little Fat Guy from Pyongyang or Some Place”

Conservative pundit Bill O’Reilly has done it again with his controversial commentary and this time it’s about PSY and “Gangnam Style.”

On the November 28 episode of Fox News’ “The O’Reilly Factor,” O’Reilly dedicated a 5-minute segment of his show to discuss PSY and “Gangnam Style.” To explain what he calls “the madness,” O’Reilly invited psychiatrist Keith Ablow and traded some condescending remarks about the song.

“I think the meaning is that it has no meaning. It is the son of Facebook, if you will, the false face that so many people now put on their lives. The lack of insight, if you will, is reflected in this person’s popularity,” Ablow said, as he started to compare it to the sensation Elvis Presley had created in the 60s.

That’s when O’Reilly jumped in to interrupt in apparent disgust, as he said, “Wait, Elvis Presley could sing. He had a good voice. His songs had words…This is a little fat guy from Pyongyang, or some place, and he’s jumping up and down.”

O’Reilly went on to mention The Beatles, the Rolling Stones, and Justin Bieber, but argues there’s something different in PSY’s popularity. “This is Internet-driven. And it looks to me the Internet is just a place where people just want some kind of numbness. They want to numb themselves to some degree.

Ablow later even compared the effect of “Gangnam Style” to drugs, although O’Reilly seemed to disagree with that notion, as he said, “Once you get into the use of substance, it’s a whole different ball game.”
