Spin is an American music magazine focused on covering relevant news and album reviews and providing concert photos, music and videos.

On December 13, an article titled “K-Pop Fizz Fizz: Life After PSY” brought some insight, as well as stated the obvious to many who have been following K-Pop culture for some time now, into PSY’s success with his biggest hit “Gangnam Style.”

The article quotes Kyung Hyun Kim, professor of East Asian Language and Literature at the University of California at Irvine, “One of the reasons why ‘Gangnam Style’ worked in Korea,” says Kim, “is he’s so un-Gangnam. Although he originally comes from that neighborhood, the image and reputation that he’s built over the last 15 years are much different. He’s been very popular in the provinces.”
