Celebrities and Fans Alike, Watch Out for Fake SNS Accounts?

Celebrities and fans alike need to watch out! It looks like there are an increasing number of people acting like celebrities on different social networking services! We are not talking about hacking celebrity accounts. We are talking about people acting as if they are celebrities!

Kim Mi Kyung who made an appearance on MBC’s “Knee Drop Guru” and gained a lot of popularity stated on March 15 that there was somebody who had made a fake Facebook page.

The problem thickens with the South Korean national MC Yoo Jae Suk. He does not use Facebook, but there is a fake Facebook account that has all of his profile information. This fake user is putting up information about the shows that Yoo Jae Suk appears in, replies, and leaves messages to people who have friended the page.

This problem is more widespread than it seems, because other celebrities such as Lee Kwang Soo, IU, BEAST’s Yang Yoseob, CN Blue’s Jung Yong Hwa, Super Junior’s Eunhyuk, and the Girls’ Generation members have been victims also.

It looks as though there is going to have to be some oversight to crack down on this problem. What are your thoughts?
