Lee Byung Hun Reveals Why He Didn't Use an English Name in Hollywood

On March 20, SBS’s “One Night of TV Entertainment” interviewed “G. I. Joe 2’s” actor Lee Byung Hun.

Lee Byung Hun revealed, “I could have used an English name, but I didn’t. I thought that the Korean viewers would be prouder of me if I used my own name, even if the films were made in US.”

Lee Byung Hun continued, “(The film crews in US) calls me ‘Byung.’ I have told them that if it’s too hard to pronounce, they can call me ‘Hyung.’ I like it when they have a hard time pronouncing my name.”

When asked if anything has changed during the shooting of this new film, Lee Byung Hun answered, “The American staff and actors treat me better now. I feel proud because I think it means that they have acknowledged my acting skills.”

Finally, Lee Byung Hun also added, “I hope Korean fans like ‘G. I. Joe 2.’ Of course, Korean films need to be successful too, but I hope they also like the US movie where I appear.”
