Roy Kim's "Bom Bom Bom" Accused of Plagiarism, "RoJinYo" Cafe Created

Roy Kim‘s recent hit “Bom Bom Bom” is being accused of plagiarism.

After Roy Kim’s self-composed and self-written “Bom Bom Bom” was released on April 22, it quickly swept music charts, landing the top spots due to its catchy tune, seasonal message and wide-range of audience appeal.

However, netizens were quick to respond as they commented that “Bom Bom Bom” sounded similar to the late Kim Kwang Suk‘s “Where The Wind Blows” and Norwegian band a-ha‘s “Take On Me.”

Roy Kim’s reps spoke with OSEN on May 1 and said, “Saying that Roy Kim’s ‘Bom Bom Bom’ is plagiarized is a ridiculous accusation. We asked experts and after they analyzed it, they said that this is not a case of plagiarism.” They also said, “Roy Kim did reveal that Kim Kwang Suk is one of his favorite artists but these plagiarism accusations do not make sense.”

Shortly after these accusations, netizens went as far as creating a “RoJinYo” cafe, which is short for “We Demand The Truth From Roy Kim.”
