Park Shi Yeon Attends Propofol Case at Court After Giving Birth

Actress Park Shi Yeon (34 years old, real name Park Mi Seon) showed up at court to attend trial on charges of illegally receiving injections of the mind-altering sleep-inducing drug propofol.

On October 14, at the Seoul Central District Court, presiding judge Seong Soo Jae opened the trial where actresses Lee Seung Yeon (45 years old), Jang Mi In Ae (29) and Park Shi Yeon had been previously indicted for drug law violations.

Park Shi Yeon attended the trial for the first time after childbirth, attracting public attention. She wore a black jacket with a black muffler, and seemed to have lost weight post-partum.

Park Shi Yeon was absent from the twelfth trial on September 16, being heavily with child at that time, and cited that her body had “not yet recovered following childbirth” as the reason for her absence at the October 7 hearing.

The trial was postponed once and resumed on October 14. Park Shi Yeon gave birth to her first child, a baby girl, on September 24.

Park Shi Yeon, Lee Seung Yeon and Jang Mi In Ae were booked in March this year on charges of illegal propofol use. According to the prosecution, Park Shi Yeon was charged with having received 126 propofol administrations, while Lee Seung Yeon and Jang Mi In Ae received 111 and 95 administrations respectively.

The three face charges of receiving propofol injections without the intention of treatment or legal prescriptions. The trial started on March 25 and the three actresses have maintained that they are neither dependent nor addicted to the drug.
