Samuel Seo, the New Generation of Underground Hip-Hop?

The hip-hop scene has been changing as some underground artists have started to release music that has made its mark with mainstream K-pop listeners. However, that leaves underground music listeners who rely on the raw vibe of hip-hop a bit dazed and confused. That is where Samuel Seo comes in. 

Samuel Seo, newest member of underground hip hop crew New Block Babyz, has released his first album “Welcome to my Zone.” Rather than pursuing the current pop trend, he brings something different: the ambient sounds of the 90’s fused with the edgy southern hip-hop style. Not only does his music contain classical piano tunes, his rap and vocals also include a little bit of something in between. He is eager to show music listeners that rap music isn’t just rapping over so-called hip-hop beats but instead, bringing his life to the music.

All tracks were produced by Samuel Seo himself. Even the video and artwork he took the time to direct. Featured on his album is Jayho, who released his first single “American Girl” in August, Nucksal of Guereallaz, Guerith Isle, 2tak (the beatboxer in ASSA COMMUNICATION owned by rapper Outsider), and #WM who worked as a chorus vocal for Kim Tae Woo and B. The artwork on the CD contains art by talented artists hand chosen by Samuel Seo himself. The album was released on October 28th and track list is given below.
