EXO and Actress Lee Yoo Bi to Host the “Melon Music Awards” Together

The “2013 Melon Music Awards” will be held by LOEN Entertainment and MBC Plus Media on November 14, and male idol group EXO and actress Lee Yoo Bi have been revealed to be co-hosts at the event.

The members of EXO have previously been special MCs for MBC‘s  “Music Core” and SBS “Inkigayo,” earning them their MC spots at this award show by fully demonstrating their smooth emceeing abilities. The members have also been very active this year, earning themselves the title of “super rookies” with songs such as “Wolf” and “Growl.”

Joining EXO will be the sole female MC, actress Lee Yoo Bi, the daughter of veteran actress Kyun Mi Ri. She starred in the recently completed hit drama “Gu Family Book,” and her rising popularity stems from roles in dramas, variety shows, and advertisement appearances.

Fans will be curious to see what the fresh and vibrant combination of EXO and Lee Yoo Bi will bring to the table, and how the resulting “Melon Music Awards” will play out.

Jang Geun Suk, who rose to the Hallyu hall of fame via his drama “You’re Beautiful,” hosted the first “Melon Music Awards” in 2009, and Song Joong Ki, who ignited flower boy scholar fever through the drama “Sungkyunkwan Scandal,” hosted the second show in 2010. The third award show in 2011 decided to bring out three MCs, top stars Lee Teuk, Park Shin Hye, and Yoon Doo Joon. Last year saw Moon Hee Jun, Danny Ahn, Lee Ki Kwang, and Nam Woo Hyun coming together to host the show, all male idol group members representative of the past and the present.

The top ten artists and other award nominees can be seen on the “Melon Music Awards” official and mobile website, and the second round of online voting is rapidly heating up. The top ten artists for 2013 are EXO, Davichi, Dynamic Duo, Busker Busker, BEAST, SHINee, Sistar, IU, Ailee and G-Dragon (in no specific order). From these top ten artists, the major awards for “Artist of the Year,” “Album of the Year,” and “Song of the Year” will be selected. Other awards include the “Netizen Popularity Award,” the “Global Star Award” and awards for the different music genres.

The fifth award show, the “2013 Melon Music Awards” will be held on November 14 at Seoul’s Olympic Park Gymnasium. The show will be broadcast live on MBC Music, Daum, Melon, and YouTube, so fans all over the world will be able to catch the award show action.
