Animated Korean Movie

After getting rave reviews at the 2013 Busan International Film Festival, Toronto International Film Festival, and the AFI Fest, Korean animated movie “The Fake” will be screened in LA for its Oscar qualifying run.

Directed by Yeon Sango-ho, this animated suspense/thriller is described as “a controversial exploration of blind faith and the distorted beliefs that define good and evil.”

Synopsis: A small rural village is scheduled to be flooded to make way for a dam. Fearful and unclear about the future, the villagers’ turn toward their church and its leaders who have promised to relocate them to a new housing development, a promised land. When ex-convict and religious skeptic Min-chul discovers that the church leaders are wanted criminals that are defrauding the flock, the town’s authorities ignore his claims and the villagers declare him working for the devil. Plagued by his reputation, Min-chul takes matters into his own hands to reveal the truth behind the corrupt church leaders.
