Actor Kim Young Kwang Quietly Enlisted in the Military

Former model and actor Kim Young Kwang quietly enlisted in the military.

On December 12, the actor enlisted in the military, and entered a solider training facility. After four weeks of training, Kim Young Kwang will serve as a public service soldier for six months. Previously, the actor had commented that he had “wanted to enlist quietly,” and thus without any public notice, had entered military service.

One acquaintance of the actor said, “December 12 was a snowy day. Kim Young Kwang and other military recruits were greeted by snow as they bravely entered the military.”

Notably, Kim Young Kwang will only serve his military service for six months. The reason being that the actor’s father, who had passed away when Kim Young Kwang was younger, had been a Vietnam War veteran, as well as an acknowledged person of national merit. Thus, abiding by regulations, children of a person considered to be of national merit are required to serve only six months of military service.

Hence, the actor is expected to be discharged in June of 2014. Previously, Kim Young Kwang received love for his character on KBS2TV’s “Good Doctor.” However, after completing filming for the drama, the actor could not delay his mandatory military service, and therefore abruptly enlisted in the military.

We give thanks for the soldiers who keep the country safe. Good luck Kim Young Kwang!
