PSY Vs. Girls' Generation's Sooyoung: Who Performed “24 Hours” Better?

With the holiday season quickly passing by and the 2013 coming to an end, we were bound to see many special stages from different artists. However, what caught many people’s eyes were two performances that had completely different vibes, but were performed to the same song.

From December 20 to 24, PSY held his end of the year concert, singing hit songs such as “Gangnam Style” and “Gentleman.” However, the performance that stood out was none other than his cover of Sunmi’s “24 Hours.” It wouldn’t be a cover without the outfit and the sass, which were the elements that created PSY’s hilarious, but somewhat sexy, performance. Wearing a tight red outfit that parodied Sunmi’s “24 Hours” attire, PSY kept a serious face that added to the hilariousness. Furthermore, PSY performed on his bare feet, fully embodying Sunmi’s choreography and stage presence.

On the other hand, Girls’ Generation’s Sooyoung showed her version of “24 Hours” during Girls’ Generation’s SMTOWN WEEK: Marchen Fantasy concert. Sooyoung’s version also had the singer wearing a stripped outfit that resembled one of Sunmi’s stage attires. Unlike PSY’s hilarious cover, the Girls’ Generation member showed off her sexy moves as she displayed her artistic dance moves while following the choreography of the song. Sooyoung’s version had the singer also perform on her bare feet, conveying the song’s signature performance style. We can imagine thousands of SONEs screaming in support of Sooyoung’s transformation.

Despite being of two different vibes, both PSY’s and Sooyoung’s rendition of “24 Hours” portrayed the singers’ different characters and personalities.
