Choi Jong Hoon, Bang Yong Guk and Other K-Pop Idol Group Leaders Born in the Year of the Horse

It is now 2014, the year of the horse. We are looking forward to a dynamic year ahead of us, especially in the K-Pop world, with many idols having been born in the year of the horse.

Although there are many idols born in the year of the horse, TV Report cut the number down to five by choosing different idol group leaders: FT Island’s Choi Jong Hoon (March 7, 1990), B.A.P’s Bang Yong Guk (March 31, 1990), Vixx’s N (June 30, 1990), Dal Shabet’s Serri (September 16, 1990), and BESTie’s Hye Yeon (December 8, 1990). 

TV Report asked the leaders some questions:

If you have to say what makes you different as a leader, what would you say?

FT Island’s Choi Jong Hoon: “I try to lead our team in our own style. I believe teamwork is the most important thing. If we are to put on a great performance as a band, teamwork in our team practices is a must. In order to build that solid teamwork, I try to be a leader that respects the members of the band.”

B.A.P’s Bang Yong Guk: “Nowadays, there is so much to learn from my peers, and I receive a lot of positive influence. I haven’t really thought about what sets me apart from other leaders, and I don’t think that is something I can personally pass judgement on. In 2014, I aim to reach out to the world in my own way, with my own style of music, as I’ve done up until now. I plan to show everyone through my actions so that they will think first that, ‘Park Yong Guk’ is different because of this.’ It’s already exciting to think about what will be remembered about me come December 2014.”

Vixx’s N: “I’m confident that I’m a deep, thoughtful, and trustworthy person. I learned early on that sincerity should be treated with sincerity. And my talents on stage! (Not saying that others aren’t talented, of course.)”

Dal Shabet’s Serri: “The leader of a group of 6?”

BESTie’s Hye Yeon: “A cute face that looks like I’d be the youngest member, not like someone born in 1990.”

What kind of leader do you want to be in the future? 

FT Island’s Choi Jong Hoon: “I will always love and care for my members, even in 2014. I will become a generous and proud leader of FT Island. Lee Hongki, Lee Jae Jin, Choi Min Hwan, Song Seung Hyun, I’m always thankful for you guys, and I love you.”

B.A.P’s Bang Yong Guk: “I dream of being a faithful and sincere leader that has nothing to be shameful about, and an artist with a vivid character and influence. With the strength of the new year (of the horse), I feel that I will be able to move forward in an enterprising and confident way. To all of the fans that trust and cheer me on, my second family of members, and anyone who listens to our music, I hope you feel our sincerity in our music and our actions.”

Vixx’s N: “I will become a more trusting, trustworthy leader.”

Dal Shabet’s Serri: “My members and fans have been cheering me a lot because it’s the year of the horse. I promise to become more lovable for the fans, and for my members, a leader that works hard for the team. 

BESTie’s Hye Yeon: “I will always be someone that will listen to my members from the same level. I will be the megaphone that represents all of the members’ thoughts and ideas in a single voice. I will be a leader that listens to my members affectionately and with an open mind. Moreover, Bestie exists because of our fans. 2014 will be a year where we take another step closer to them.”
