“Man from the Stars'” $940,000 Drama Set

The “homes” of Jun Ji Hyun and Kim Soo Hyun on SBS Wednesday-Thursday drama “Man from the Stars” are said to be worth 1 billion Korean won (~940,000 USD).

SBS revealed on January 7 that the homes of Chun Song Yi (Jun Ji Hyun) and Do Min Joon (Kim Soo Hyun) are not real but are luxury sets.

To fit her top star status, Chun Song Yi’s apartment was outfitted with a variety of different colored furniture and props, including a red sofa. Pictures of Chun Song Yi and full-length mirrors were placed all over the house.

In the case of resident alien Do Min Joon, black and white tones were employed to emphasize his preference of a spick and span, clean-looking apartment. Min Joon’s study had to embody his 400 years on earth, and apparently, the production team made use of actual cultural assets and articles from the enlightenment period to make it more authentic.  

For example, the see-through golden clock is a valuable item that costs a whopping 30 million Korean won (~28,000 USD), one of three that exist in Korea.

“Man from the Stars” airs every Wednesday and Thursday at 10:00 PM KST on SBS.
