Lee Seung Chul Countersues Core Contents Media for Defamation

Lee Seung Chul‘s agency Baek Enertainment has countersued Core Contents Media (CCM) for their initial claims of Lee Seung Chul’s illegal usage of music.

On January 14, CCM filed a lawsuit against Baek Entertainment, claiming that two of Lee Seung Chul’s songs “Are You Listening” for the “East of Eden” OST and “No One Else” from the “More Than Blue” OST were included in his tenth repackaged album without the proper permissions. CCM also accused Lee Seung Chul of violating the music distribution contract from 2009 to 2013 by collecting around 100 million won (around 100,000 dollars).

However, Lee Seung Chul responded by saying that those were false claims and will be countersuing for defamation. Lee Seung Chul and Baek Entertainment argued that their illegal usage of music is not true. They said that CCM already received the settlement agreements for Lee Seung Chul’s tenth album with the proper permissions, which leaves them puzzled about CCM’s accusations.

Lee Seung Chul’s sides also expressed bafflement about CCM’s claims since the tenth repackaged album was released in 2009, making it sound like CCM only just found out about an album that was released four years ago.

Lee Seung Chul and Baek Entertainment also stated that they have never collected any amounts from their music distributor, which is a fact that can easily be checked by investigations. Therefore, they are saying that CCM’s accusations are purely out of spite and are spreading false truths.

Lee Seung Chul’s legal team commented, “These accusations have greatly defamed Lee Seung Chul’s name with considerable damages. Even though Lee Seung Chul knows about CCM’s bad intentions, since he is a public figure, he has been holding it in and waiting for them to stop. However, it seems that CCM is using the fact that Lee Seung Chul is a public figure to continue their misdeeds. Therefore, we will be taking strong legal action as well.”
