Music Chart Battle: Soyu and Jung Gi Go VS. Taeyeon and Jonghyun

February started off with a battle between duet groups. Currently, the special project song titled “Some,” sung by Jung Gi Go and SISTAR’s Soyu, has been successful with the public. Since the morning of February 11, “Some” has continued to rank first on five online Korean music charts. The song, which is a medium tempo duet track, portrays how Soyu’s and Jung Gi Go’s vocals matched perfectly.

However, the two have a new competition as SM the Ballad has released their own powerhouse duet couple. On February 10, Girls’ Generation’s Taeyeon and SHINee’s Jonghyun released their duet track, “Breath.” The song, which narrates the story of two past lovers, showcased the range of Girls’ Generation’s and SHINee’s main vocalists. Furthermore, “Breath” was released in Korean, Chinese, and Japanese, thus increasing the popularity of the ballad amongst Korean and international music listeners.

Despite the music chart battle, both songs highlight each singer’s voice, ultimately concluding that both duet songs have their own unique styles.
