Jang Hyuk and Jang Nara May Reunite for 'Fated to Love You' Drama Remake

Jang Hyuk and Jang Nara may be reuniting for another drama, 12 years after starring together in SBS drama “Successful Story of a Bright Girl.”

The two are tipped to star in MBC Wednesday-Thursday drama “Fated to Love You ”(working title) this summer. Both sides are said to be positively reviewing the offer, although nothing can be confirmed just yet.

“Fated to Love You” is a remake of a 2008 Taiwanese drama of the same name. The drama achieved historically high average ratings of 10%, with peak ratings hitting 14.6%, in Taiwan. This would be equivalent to a rating of 70% in Korea. The drama will be produced by Number Three Pictures (“Arang and the Magistrate”) and directed by Lee Dong Yoon (“Queen’s Classroom,” “The Greatest Love”), and is scheduled to follow after Kim Myung Min’s “A New Leafin July.

“Fated to Love You” is about an average woman without a personality or a sense of existence, who accidentally becomes pregnant with the child of a chaebol heir, and the story that unfolds thereafter. The synopsis below closely resembles that of the original Taiwanese drama.

The male protagonist, Lee Hyun Soo, is the president of a chemical company that produces household items. He has a ballerina girlfriend, but he’s faced by opposition from the family.

Kang Yoon Kyung is the main female character. She calls a small island in Dadohae home, and now works as a contracted office girl at a law firm after graduating from a provincial college. Her nickname is “Post-it,” just like a sticky note, because her inability to say no to others results in her colleagues taking advantage of her to do their work.

It would be significant if Jang Hyuk and Jang Nara both signed on to do this drama. Their first project together “Success Story of a Bright Girl” 12 years ago achieved extremely high peak ratings of 42%, becoming a sensational hit. Jang Nara also received recognition for her acting and use of Chungcheong satoori.

Jang Hyuk has a new movie, “The Thorn,” coming out in April, while Jang Nara’s last project was a drama, “School 2013.”

What do you guys think about this pairing, and the drama remake in general?
