Baekhyun, Kyuhyun, Sunny, and Jay Officially Announced as Leads for "Singin' in the Rain"

Baekhyun (EXO), Kyuhyun (Super Junior), Jay (TRAX), and Sunny (Girls’ Generation) have recently been announced by SM C&C as the lead roles for the new Korean musical adaptation of “Singin’ in the Rain.”

Jay, Kyuhyun, and Baekhyun, all in the role of Don Lockwood, commented on the musical. Jay said, “I’m happy to be back on stage in a great piece, although the tap and ballet kind of worry me.” Kyuhyun said, “Playing the main character in the musical for a movie that I’ve always liked, I’m really nervous. I’m very happy for the opportunity to sing songs that I like, learn tap dance, and then perform it all on stage. I think it is a piece where I will be able to show how I’ve grown as a musical actor.”

Baekhyun, to whom “Singin’ in the Rain” is his musical acting debut, also revealed his nervous anticipation: “As it’s my first musical, I’m really excited and nervous at the same time. I’ll do my absolute best to portray Don Lockwood as well as possible.”

In the role of Kathy Seldon, the object of Don Lockwood’s desire in the musical, are Girls’ Generation’s Sunny and the musical actresses Bang Jin Yi and Choi Soo Jin. The character of Lina Lamont will be played by musical actress Baek Joo Hee and CSJH’s Sunday.

Sunny said, “I really loved the movie, and it’s one of my favorites. I’m really happy to be able to participate in the musical.”

“Singin’ in the Rain” will be on stage from June 5 through August 3.
