Eugene Clears Up Rumors of Involvement in Salvation Sect

S.E.S member Eugene recently cleared up the rumors of her being involved in the Salvation Sect, which involves Yoo Byeong Eon, the de facto owner of Cheonghaejin Marine, the operator of the Sewol ferry.

On May 7, Eugene posted a message on her fan cafe with the title “It’s a sunny afternoon.” In her message, she relayed, “Ever since the Salvation Sect has become a big issue these days, the media has made it seem like my church is involved too and there has been many misunderstandings. Since the Evangelical Baptist Church and our church have the same roots, we are being misunderstood. However, we have nothing to do with the Salvation Sect.”

“It is true that Pastor Kwon of the Evangelical Baptist Church and our Pastor Lee have worked together in the past. However, ever since Pastor Kwon’s son-in-law Yoo Byeong Eon started his business, the church began to lose its true principles. So Pastor Lee left the Evangelical Baptist Church and started the Korean Jesus Baptist Church. That was 32 years ago,” she continued.

Eugene added, “I don’t think it’s right to treat the two churches the same and criticize our church just because the roots are the same. But many have been talking about our church separately from the Salvation Sect. There is talk that our church teaches things that go against Christianity. If that’s true, I will find someplace else. This is just so groundless that I am very bewildered and upset.”

The public has made similiar criticisms against Park Jin Young, accusing him of having monetary involvement between JYP Entertainment and Yoo Byeong Eon as well as religious involvement in the Salvation Sect. Park Jin Young’s wife is the niece of Yoo Byeong Eon.

Meanwhile, Eugene is looking through new projects and S.E.S is preparing an annual charity bazaar.
