EXO’s Baekhyun Opens Up for the First Time Since Relationship with Taeyeon Was Revealed

On June 28, during EXO’s “EXO FROM. EXOPLANET #1 – THE LOST PLANET” concert in Chongqing, China, Baekhyun made his first statement since his relationship with Girls’ Generation Taeyeon was confirmed by SM Entertainment on June 19.

Baekhyun expressed, “Our fans are not a light, passing existence to me. Each and every fan is precious and gives me strength. I hope the sincerity of my heart reaches you. I will become EXO’s Baekhyun that continues to work hard, not just today, but in the future as well, so please watch over me,” and bowed his head. This appears to be Baekhyun’s first official attempt to communicate with fans after the dating news caused many fans to become upset, not only due to the relationship, but because of suspicions that Baekhyun and Taeyeon used their SNS posts as secret messages to one another.

The EXO fans who were present at the Chongqing concert took to their SNS accounts to spread the word of Baekhyun’s statement through text as well as brief video clips. This news has been drawing a lot of attention in particular, because the EXO member had not ever directly taken a stance, despite his appearances on SBS’ “Inkigayo,” KBS 2TV’s “Music Bank,” and other programs. 

On the other hand, Taeyeon had previously addressed the relationship through her Instagram, and also became a topic of interest after being seen apologizing to fans at the airport.
