Kris and SM Entertainment Hold First Arbitration Meeting
On July 8, at 3:20PM (KST), representatives of Kris (Wu Yi Fan) and SM Entertainment had their first arbitration meeting. Both sides met for roughly a half hour, after which they separated without having reached an agreement and merely having confirmed the opposing side’s stance. Kris and SM Entertainment director Kim Young Min were not in attendance at this meeting.
Following the arbitration meeting, the legal representatives met with reporters and said, “The case will continue. We have nothing in particular to say.” While the first meeting did not achieve any notable results, the judge panel will be recommending another arbitration meeting to the involved parties.
Previously, on May 15, Kris filed a lawsuit against SM Entertainment for the termination of his exclusive contract. In addition to his contract termination, he is asking for 20 million won (approx. 20,000 USD) from SM Entertainment. While Kris largely remained in China after filing the lawsuit, he is currently located in Prague, Czech Republic, where he is filming for his new movie, “Somewhere Only We Know.”
Kris was also recently involved in a dating scandal with “Somewhere Only We Know” director Xu Jinglei, which was denied by both sides.
