First Episode of “The Night Watchman” Tops TV Ratings

MBC’s new Monday and Tuesday drama “The Night Watchman,” starring Jung Il Woo, TVXQ’s Yunho, and others has gotten off to a good start in the television ratings, according to research company Nielsen Korea.

Nielsen released figures showing that the first episode of “The Night Watchman” was the highest rated television show airing at its time slot, scoring an audience of 10.9%. The drama replaces “Triangle” as MBC’s new 10pm drama, and has already outdone its predecessor’s debut show, which gained an 8.9% share of viewers. The  average rating for “Triangle” (over its 26 episodes) was 8.0%.

The figures also revealed that “The Night Watchmen” held off competition from other popular dramas. “Trot Lovers,” which aired on KBS2 recorded a 9.1% share, while SBS’s “Temptation” recorded an 8.3% share.

“The Night Watchman” is a period drama that tells the story of a ghost-busting team of exorcists in Joseon-era Korea.
