Lee Jong Hyuk on Actors Appearing on Variety Shows:

While some celebrities shy away from variety shows because it has the potential to break the image they portray, actor Lee Jong Hyuk openly welcomes such appearances and thinks that appearing on variety shows do more good than harm to one’s image.

At the press conference of MBC’s special drama “Turning Point” held on September 2, Lee Jong Hyuk talked about his character, Yeom Dong Il, a no name actor who is at a crossroad in his acting career. His character auditioned for variety shows to help increase his popularity, prompting Lee Jong Hyuk to voice out his stance on variety programs as well. The actor has previously appeared on MBC’s “Dad! Where Are We Going?” together with his adorable son, Lee Junsu.

“I could relate (to my character). If the variety show does well, many people will recognize (the actor) and I think that’s not bad. Also, if you look at it in some way, it could be the actor’s strategy. Shouldn’t I also do variety shows if I want to be more popular? I understand the sentiments of this character I play,” said Lee Jong Hyuk.

In “Turning Point,” Lee Jong Hyuk plays the role of Yeom Dong Il, a bit actor who was put on the spotlight for the first time in his life after saving the life of a passionate fan of a top star. Rainbow’s Jaekyung, Shin Da Eun, Lee Soon Jae, and Im Ji Gyu will also appear in the special drama. It will air on September 4, 11:15 p.m. (KST) on MBC.
