SM Artists Including Ex-Girls' Generation Member Jessica Send Condolences to SM Entertainment's Lee Soo Man
The artists of SM Entertainment are sending their condolences to the company’s founding father, Lee Soo Man, who has recently lost his wife, Kim Eun Jin, to cancer.
Artists including f(x)’s Victoria and Super Junior’s Siwon, as well as former Girls’ Generation member Jessica Jung have all expressed their sympathies through online posts.
Super Junior’s Choi Siwon, who was in Japan at that time together with the rest of the SM Entertainment artists present at the SM Town Live World Tour in Tokyo, took to Twitter on October 5 his message of comfort for Lee Soo Man and said, “Please be strong. We will finish (our concert) here well and go (to you.) The others also pray for the repose of (Kim Eun Jin’s) soul.” Siwon also posted a message in English and Japanese for the sake of the foreign fans.
f(x)’s Victoria also sent her condolences through her official Instagram. Together with a photo of the venue for their concert that day, Victoria posted the message, “I feel a deep sadness about the passing of Sir Lee Soo Man’s wife. But we’re always with Sir Lee Soo Man. He’s a father-like pillar to us. We’ll finish our concert well and go (to you)~ Be strong!”
Victoria also told off some media that used a photo of her smiling instead of the photo she uploaded with her message, setting things straight before another misunderstanding ensues. “This is not the photo (I used), I don’t understand why (the media) uploaded an untruthful article. I don’t think it’s respectful to the dead. I hope everyone also prays for the soul of the dead,” said Victoria in another Instagram post following her original message.
Although surrounded with controversy, former Girls’ Generation member Jessica Jung didn’t forget to pay her respect and send condolences as well. On October 6, Jessica Jung posted on her Weibo a message, “I was so shocked to learn about the news, my heart feels bad. I pray for her soul,” Jessica said in Korean. She followed this with a message in English, “Please accept my deepest condolences. My thoughts and prayers are with you. She will be greatly missed.”
