“Tomorrow Cantabile” Producers: “Series Is Based on the ‘Nodame Cantabile’ Manga, Not the Japanese Drama”

Viewers of new KBS2 drama “Tomorrow Cantabile” seem to have differing views with the show’s producers about alleged similarities to the Japanese TV series “Nodame Cantabile.” The first episode of “Tomorrow Cantabile” aired on October 13.

“Nodame Cantabile” was broadcast in 2005-2006 by Japanese media network Fuji Television, and was based on a popular manga series of the same name.

Before the first episode of “Tomorrow Cantabile” was broadcast, a member of the production team was quoted as saying, “We have based the story mainly on the manga series, rather than the Japanese drama. We didn’t pay much attention to the drama while we were planning ‘Tomorrow Cantabile.’”

However, viewers seemed to feel that this did not really seem to be the case, at least on the basis of the first episode. Web users posted comments on the drama’s website such as, “This is not much different to the Japanese drama version.”

The second episode of “Tomorrow Cantabile” will air at 10 p.m. on October 14.
