Shinhwa’s Eric Shares His Opinion Regarding Current Idols’ Withdrawals and Lawsuits

On October 16, Shinhwa’s Eric spoke at an interview that was held in celebration of the ending of the KBS drama “Discovery of Love,” where Eric had been a lead character. As a member of the longest running idol group, Shinhwa, Eric was asked how he felt regarding the latest news of current idols’ departures from their respective groups as well as their lawsuits against their management agencies, specifically referring Girls’ Generation and EXO.

In response, he talked about how his own group has lasted 17 years. He said, “We also fought a lot and disliked each other.” Though Eric did not specifically refer to any of the current idol groups, he said, “It wasn’t that we had some kind of special strategy or that we were different from the current idols that we were able to last this long. The problem lies within whether you keep being stubborn, or endure it.” He continued, “Taking a step back or having patience doesn’t happen because someone is the better person. We also went through a stormy phase, and we were luckily able to get through it. However, it’s important to think twice about an issue when a critical moment comes. It happens to everyone. To be honest, I’m not in a position where I can give advice to others. I’m just grateful to all the hyungs [managers] that have worked with us over the years.”

Meanwhile, Eric played the role of Kang Tae Ha in “Discovery of Love,” which ended this past October 7.
