“We Got Married” PD Talks About Editing Song Jae Rim—Kim So Eun’s Segments + Why She Paired the Couple Together

In a recent interview with the PD of MBC’s variety show “We Got Married,” Sun Hye Yoon (also known to be married to MC Shin Dong Yup), she discussed the reason behind her decision to cast actors Song Jae Rim and Kim So Eun and pair them together, as well as the difficulties of editing the couple’s segments.

The Song Jae Rim—Kim So Eun couple has become a hot topic since joining “We Got Married” (WGM) as a married couple and the two of them have also been receiving a lot of love from viewers for their refreshing personalities.

About viewers’ reaction to the couple’s addition to the show, PD Sun Hye Yoon shared, “I thought many people would be very surprised, but I didn’t know the response would be this good.”

The PD continued, “Song Jae Rim’s sly tone of speech is not a set-up. I thought ‘I have to put him on “WGM”’ after he revealed a completely different image from his drama characters during interviews.” She also mentioned Kim So Eun, saying, “I interviewed her last year following ‘Horse Doctor.’ At the time, I wasn’t able to find a partner to match her with. But after meeting Song Jae Rim, Kim So Eun came to mind, so I paired them together as a couple.”

PD Sun Hye Yoon also expressed her opinion on why the two actors match well: “Although Song Jae Rim is sly, he speaks honestly. He talks in exactly the same way as other 30-year-old men these days. To add to that, Kim So Eun may be an actress, but she doesn’t have the personality to hold back either, so the two of them seem to fit well together.”

On the topic of their bold ‘skinship’ and the editing process of the newly-named ‘19+ couple,’ the PD explained, “They’re honest, but I didn’t know they would be this honest. It’s not a lot, but there are scenes that go way beyond the maturity level for 15-year-old viewers. Especially because ‘WGM’ airs during the minor protection time slot, I immediately edit the maturity level as soon as I think, ‘This is unsuitable,’” stirring curiosity about the footage not shown on broadcast.
