"Misaeng" Sells 500,000 Copies in Two Weeks

After becoming this year’s first comic book to sell one million copies on October 27, “Misaeng” has reached another milestone by selling 500,000 more books in just two weeks.

The publishing company Wisdom House revealed on November 11, “Comic book ‘Misaeng’ has sold over 1.5 million copies. Selling over 500,000 copies in two weeks is exceptional in the publishing industry.”

The series has been enjoying steady popularity since it was first published in 2012, but after the premiere of tvN’s drama remake, the sales numbers have suddenly skyrocketed.

“Usually, the sales of books are 50% lower during the weekends in comparison to weekdays, but ‘Misaeng’ has had constantly high sales thanks to being a weekend drama. As office workers with purchasing power are the target market, the books are being sold quickly for the purpose of year-end gifts and collections,” the publisher explained.

“Misaeng” is expected to sell two million copies by the end of the year.
