MBC Drama Awards 2014 to Decide Grand Prize Winner through Real Time Text Voting
MBC has adopted a big change for this year’s drama awards, shifting 100 percent of the weight of deciding the grand prize winner to netizens.
The grand prize winner will be decided from real time text votes, said an MBC drama spokesperson on December 4. The nominees, however, will be selected through an expert panel of judges. The spokesperson said, “We believe the award will carry even more meaning, being one given directly by the viewers.” It has also been said that MBC will be getting rid of joint awards, in which there is more than one recipient, with the exception of the rookie award and the Golden Acting Award.
Actors this year likely to be strong contenders for the MBC grand prize are Lee Yoo Ri from “Jang Bo Ri Is Here,” Song Yoon Ah from “Mama,” and Shin Ha Kyun from “Mr. Baek.”
The MBC Drama Awards is set to be held on December 30.
Meanwhile, in the midst of this makeover by MBC, KBS has stated that their award ceremony will be proceeding as usual.
