JYP on First Impression of Jackson, Why He Almost Didn't Make the Cut for GOT7

Park Jin Young revealed his first impression of GOT7’s Jackson during his audition.

On the December 16 broadcast of SBS’ variety show “Roommate,” CEO and founder of JYP Park Jin Young made a guest appearance after receiving an invitation to a Christmas party hosted by the residents of the “Roommate” share house.

Park Jin Young said, “To be honest, I did not really know what to make of Jackson when I first saw him. [My first impression of him] was not good.” He shared that the reason for his subpar impression was that Jackson tried so hard.

He continued, “It is important in dance to look [easy and] natural but Jackson danced so hard to the point that it looked unnatural; he would rush the beat. Because this wouldn’t improve, I had my doubts about debuting Jackson. Jackson did end up debuting at the urging of our casting team. It turned out that Jackson was exactly the kind of style that our agency likes.”
