Kangnam Confesses That He's Lucky That He Got Popular Late

M.I.B’s Kangnam confessed that it’s a good thing that it took him some time to get popular.

On the December 21 episode of JTBC’s “Inside Story Salon,” Kangnam said that he got popular when he was older, but that was actually a good thing in retrospect.

Kangnam revealed his positive attitude, saying, “I got popular when I was older, considering that I’m an idol. But if I got popular sooner, I probably would have gotten into trouble. Maybe I would have gotten drunk and gotten in a fight or maybe have had relationship problems.”

At this, Heo Ji Woong asked Kangnam what he kind of trouble he would most likely have gotten into, and Kangnam replied, “Assault. Or maybe women?” The MCs then criticized him for the nature of those theoretical crimes.

In response to the criticism, though, Kangnam said, “When you’re young, there’s no other choice but to fight if someone prompts you.” Yoon Jong Shin agreed with him, saying that it is often better to get popular later on in the career. He added that early luck could turn out to be a curse.

Choi Hee added on as an example of Kangnam’s concern, “Isn’t Macaulay Culkin from ‘Home Alone’ and other popular child actors now struggling with drug addictions and such?” and Jin Joong Kwon analyzed the situation by saying that “Sometimes, the popularity could be too much to handle for someone so young.”

Meanwhile, on this episode of “Inside Story Salon,” guests Kim Yeon Woo and Choi Hee and MCs Yoon Jong Shin, Jang Dong Min, Heo Ji Woong, Kangnam, and Jin Joong Kwon talked about positive psychology and problems with going Dutch.
