Hong Jin Young Becomes First Trot Star to Appear on “Weekly Idol”

Trot singer Hong Jin Young is set to appear on MBC Every1‘s variety show “Weekly Idol.” The star will become the first Trot singer to guest on the program. Hong Jin Young will appear on the January 7 edition of the show, which airs at 6 p.m. in Korea.

“Weekly Idol” co-host Jung Hyung Don said jokingly of Hong Jin Young’s appearance on the show, “I feel like ‘Weekly Idol’ has become ‘Weekly Adult-dol!’”

He also complimented the singer’s charms, adding, “Even though Hong Jin Young came here alone, I feel as though we just had Girls’ Generation in the studio with us!”

The singer has won fame among K-pop fans following her appearances on MBC variety show “We Got Married” alongside actor Namgoong Min. Hong Jin Young is also enjoying the success of her most recent album release “Life Note,” which includes the hit track “Cheer Up.”
