29th Annual GDA Apologizes for Visa Issues + BEAST and BTS’ Jungkook Unable to Perform
The reps of the 29th Annual Golden Disk Awards have offered an official apology after problems arose with issuing visas for a number of attendees.
On January 14, the official Facebook page for the awards ceremony released the official statement in regard to the visa issues and announced changes to the performance lineup:
“BEAST will be attending as scheduled on January 14 as presenters. However, they will not be able to perform. The BEAST members and their agency tried their best in order to be able to perform as planned, but the organizers failed to solve the visa issues.”
The statement continued, “With the exception of the GOT7 and BTS members who were unable to obtain performance visas (GOT7’s BamBam and Yugyeom, BTS’ Jungkook), the rest of the group will be performing. We apologize to the artists and all of the fans for causing an inconvenience.”
It is said that while BamBam and Yugyeom did not leave for China with the rest of their group members, Jungkook departed alongside his group, although he will not be able to perform during the event.
Shortly after this news was relayed, BEAST’s Yoseob took to his Twitter to explain the current situation and apologize to fans:
“All 6 members will be attending the Golden Disk Awards. However, due to performance visa issues not working out, BEAST will not be able to show our stage. I would like to apologize to the many fans who waited a long time and were looking forward to it. Especially our Chinese fans who are likely even more disappointed as our last concert in China had been cancelled. We will try to repay you with an even better performance later. I’m sorry.”
The Golden Disk Awards is scheduled to be held on January 14 and 15 in Beijing, China.
