Lee Ji Yeon's Mother Apologizes to Lee Byung Hun Following Her Daughter's Sentencing

Model Lee Ji Yeon’s mother has made a statement of apology after her daughter and GLAM’s Kim Dahee were found guilty of blackmailing actor Lee Byung Hun.

“During the trial, I said certain things in order to establish the facts. Through my words, I unintentionally caused harm to Lee Byung Hun, and for that I am sorry,” she said. “I never intended to do so, and if there were any misunderstandings, I’d like to straighten them out.”

“As a mother, I am very sorry for the public controversy that the trial has caused,” she continued. “As hard as it was to watch my daughter go through the last several months, I wish nothing but happiness for Lee Byung Hun and Lee Min Jung.” She also stated that the family is discussing with lawyers the possibility of appealing the court’s verdict.

On January 15, Lee Ji Yeon and Kim Dahee were found guilty of attempting to blackmail Lee Byung Hun for five billion won (4.6 million USD), with Lee Ji Yeon receiving a one year and two month prison sentence and Dahee receiving a one year sentence. Lee Byung Hun, who is still in the United States, did not attend the hearing.
