Kang Byul Lost 8 kg for New Role in "Miss Mamma Mia"

Kang Byul, who is starring in upcoming cable station KBS N drama “Miss Mamma Mia,” has shown her passion for her work by dropping a significant amount of weight to fully embody her role.

The actress starting dieting and regularly exercising before filming started and has successfully dropped eight kilograms.

In “Miss Mamma Mia,” Kang Byul plays single mother Seo Young Joo who despite being abandoned as a child by her parents and betrayed by the man she loved, maintains a bright personality and hardworking spirit as she raises a daughter on her own.

The drama will be helmed by director Kim Jong Chang whose hits include “Terms of Endearment,” “Rosy Life,” and “Blissful Woman.”

Kang Byul revealed that she has been waiting anxiously for the drama to air, “I want to spread Young Joo’s happy virus widely. I have prepared hard so I ask for a lot of love.”

“Miss Mamma Mia” will premiere on January 28 at 11 p.m., KST.
