Red Velvet’s Seulgi Discusses Her 7-Year Training

Seulgi and her Red Velvet co-members were featured on SBS Radio Power FM’s “Choi Hwa Jeong’s Power Time.”

On the show, Seulgi opened up about the seven years it took her to finally debut with Red Velvet.

“I was a trainee for seven years. I auditioned in 6^th grade, and official training started when I was a first year in middle school,” said Seulgi.

When the host asked her if the road to her career was hard, she replied, “The first three to four years were fun. After that, I hit a slump, and thought to myself, ‘Is this the right path for me?’”

She also added, “They told me not to tell anyone I was in training. I only shared my secret with close friends, but because I kept my mouth shut, nobody knew until it went public.”
