Gong Seung Yeon Says Henry Seems Like Her Brother; Prefers

Fans of Gong Seung Yeon are treated to some beautiful photos of the young actress in April 5’s issue of Grazia magazine. But her interview also provides fans with a glimpse of the work she put into her role in “Heard It Through the Grapevine” and her feelings about the guys of “We Got Married.”

In her interview with the magazine, she talks about how she convinced the director of “Heard It Through the Grapevine” that she would be right for the show.

She explains, “I sent a handwritten letter straight to the director. I really enjoyed the works of director Ahn Pan Suk and the writer. So I told them my feelings about their previous works, how I felt when I watched the actors perform in them, and that sort of thing.”

The actress adds, “I also filled up an entire A4-sized piece of paper with my analysis of the character Seo Noori, and what I thought her life had been like, what she would look like, and her personality. I was determined to play this part, so I did whatever I could to let them know how sincere I was about it.”

She was eventually chosen for the role, and so she had to prepare to play the part of a young girl who was working part-time while studying to be a news announcer.

“I actually enrolled in a real academy for announcers and even went to classes,” she reveals. “I registered as Seo Noori and took some trial classes. They seemed to really like me there. They sometimes contact me saying they think I could pass the course, and that they want to study together with me.”

Although the student aspect of her role seemed easy for her to master, she struggled a bit more with her character’s part-time job.

“One time, we were filming a scene in a sandwich shop where my character was supposed to be working,” she says. “I hadn’t had much of a chance to practice, so the thing I made looked really sloppy. The director said, ‘You’re playing a character who makes this sandwich every single day. You can’t be bad at it.’ So the very next day I went to a shop to learn how to make sandwiches.”

The topic then switches to her experiences on the latest season of MBC‘s hit variety show “We Got Married.” When asked whether her ideal type was CNBLUE‘s Lee Jong Hyun or Super Junior-M‘s Henry, she answers honestly.

“Henry is like a brother to me,” she admits. “When we met again on the set of ‘We Got Married’ after not seeing each other for such a long time, I felt like I was seeing a family member again.”

She then adds, “I like manly guys. Therefore it’s a good thing that I met my current partner, right?”
