VOTE: Battle of the K-Pop Fashionistas

If you search online for the definition of a fashionista, you will generally find something like “a person who obsessively follows trends in the fashion industry and strives continually to adopt the latest fashions.” If you ask a true fashionista though, they will tell you they seek to set trends, not follow them. While K-pop is definitely full of lovers of fashion, there are a few specific idols who have earned themselves the title of “fashionista.” Their looks range from classic to crazy, but which one is best? You decide in “VOTE: Battle of the K-Pop Fashionistas.” CL – 2NE1 CL’s fashion choices are always bold and have a rockstar vibe. She loves flashy colors and prints and is never afraid to take a risk! She follows fashion closely and is good friends with Moschino designer, Jeremy Scott. Key – SHINee Key definitely marches to the beat of his own drum, especially when it comes to fashion. His style choices are quite eclectic and super funky. He always dresses to please himself, instead of thinking of others. Sooyoung – Girls’ Generation Sooyoung is a favorite of magazines and designers in Korea. Her tall, thin frame and beautiful face make for a perfect model. When choosing her own outfits, she tends to go for a classic, elegant look. T.O.P – BIGBANG When promoting with his group, T.O.P goes along with the hip-hop, street vibe of their music. In his every day life however, his style has evolved immensely. He now chooses luxury brands and chic clothes which suit his masculine frame and model-worthy looks. Hyomin – T-ara Hyomin has long been a lover of fashion and isn’t afraid to change up her style. Her looks vary from classy and feminine to sexy and elegant, cute and adorable to unique and fun. She tends to add her own flair with large handbags and funky shoes. Heechul – Super Junior Although several of his band members have a love for classic styles from high-end, luxury brands, Heechul doesn’t stick to one brand and isn’t afraid to buy outfits and accessories that most of us would call strange. He definitely has a unique sense of style and loves to express his funny personality through his love of fashion. Nana – After School Nana’s style tends to be quite comfortable and casual on an every-day basis. However, she also looks perfect in vintage-inspired looks and flowy dresses that come right off the runway. She often wears monochromatic colors which compliment her classic, natural beauty. Jaejoong – JYJ Jaejoong loves to wear the color black! Practically any time he is photographed out in public, he is head to toe in black. While he chooses casual, comfortable clothes, he adds funky accessories and shoes to make his look more fashionable. In addition, the black tones always give him a cool, city vibe. Jessica Jung Jessica loves high-end fashion and sleek, modern clothes. When modeling, many magazines put her in ultra-feminine looks, but her own tastes tend to be sophisticated and fashionable. She has a definite New York City vibe in almost everything she wears. Junhyung – B2ST Although he says a fellow band member is actually the one who follows fashion the most, Junhyung is known as one of K-pop’s fashionistas. His style varies every day and changes with his mood. Back in 2012, he was even voted “Most Fashionable Idol,” beating out others like Key and  G-Dragon. Bora – Sistar Bora’s style tends to be very girly and sexy. She especially loves short shorts which show off her great legs, in addition to fun accessories with a bohemian vibe. She isn’t afraid to change it up completely however and go for a full-blown glamorous look. G-Dragon – BIGBANG From ultra-sophisticated to slightly wacky, G-Dragon is undoubtedly the most well-known fashionista in K-Pop. While he first started off with an urban, hip-hop look, his style has evolved over the years to become eclectic and funky. He likes to vary his style though and is often seen wearing chic outfits by Chanel, with his own accessories and influences to give it that G-Dragon touch.
