SHINee's Jonghyun Honors Sewol Ferry Victims on His Birthday

SHINee’s Jonghyun paid tribute to Sewol ferry victims Kim Gun Woo and Park Ji Yoon who share his birthday.

On April 9, Jonghyun tweeted, “I received a lot of birthday wishes. Thank you. I think being able to share something is a privilege. In that spirit, there is something I want to tell you.”

He continued, “None of us have forgotten the Sewol Ferry tragedy. Among the Danwon High School students, there are some that share the same birthday with me. Park Ji Yoon and Kim Gun Woo’s birthdays were on April 8. Although a day has passed… if you send a free text to #1111, it will show up on the screen at the Ansan Memorial Site. Please remember these children.”

“I have never exchanged a word or a glance with these children, but my heart still hurts and feels empty. These are children that breathed the same air as us. We must not forget. At least for these children. For those they left behind. For the future,” Jonghyun wrote.

Happy Birthday, Kim Gun Woo and Park Ji Yoon. Rest in peace.
