Park Jin Young Addresses Conflicts with Foreign Members in an Idol Group

Singer and producer Park Jin Young said that the conflict regarding foreign members in a group is “trial and error.”

On April 29, Park Jin Young attended a press conference for Mnet’s “SIXTEEN.” When asked about international members in an idol group and the conflicts involving them, he said, “It’s trial and error that occurs in the process of getting ready for Hallyu.”

He said, “Until now, we have exported talented Korean kids to other countries. Now, as we get ready for Hallyu, this is an exchange with kids who are abroad. [The conflicts] are trial and error that occur in that process.”

He added, “I think agreeable and fair contract forms will take shape. Also, something that must occur is for each other to share something valuable in a genuine way. If [the foreign members] can share something more than economical interest, I think the relationship between each other will become stronger.”

Park Jin Young shared, “Sharing something other than dancing and singing can prevent conflicts from happening.”

Meanwhile, “SIXTEEN” is a program where seven girl group contestants battle from JYP Entertainment it out with nine trainees who strive to take their spots in a new girl group. It was co-produced by Mnet and JYP Entertainment. The first episode will air on May 5 at 11 p.m. KST.
