Mnet Responds to Reports of Cancellation of

Mnet‘s rap survival programs “Show Me the Money” and “Unpretty Rapstar” were both reported to be on the chopping block after recently receiving disciplinary action, however the network has denied these rumors.

On May 7, the Korean Communication Standards Commission (KCSC) voted that because of the obscene gestures and swear words used by the contestants on “Unpretty Rapstar,” the show should be taken off air and disciplinary action should be taken against its producers.

Mnet’s other rap battle show “Show Me the Money” had received this ruling twice in the past, but the KCSC commented that the show has continued to violate the rules.

After this ruling, some news outlets reported that the either both or one of the shows would be going off the air.

Mnet responded by saying, “We have verified the contents of the KCSC’s ruling on our program. From now on, the  program’s producers will be taking caution and paying close attention.”

“Show Me the Money” is therefore still expected to air its fourth season this June, while plans are still under way for a second season of “Unpretty Rapstar” to air in September.
