Kim Hyun Joong Claims He Paid Settlement to Ex-Girlfriend Over Alleged Miscarriage

On May 11, Kim Hyun Joong‘s legal representatives denied his former girlfriend’s claims that his abuse caused her to miscarry her previous pregnancy.

Nevertheless, they claim that his former girlfriend (known only as Ms. Choi) threatened last year that she would make him known publicly as a violent criminal that abused pregnant women and caused them to miscarry. In fear, he gave her a settlement of 600 million won (approx. US$547,000), and they say with that the matter was concluded.

Kim Hyun Joong’s lawyer says they are preparing to take legal action in response to her current allegations.

However, Ms. Choi’s lawyers have stated that the 600 million won was not given to her as a settlement fee. Instead, they assert that it was damages given to her for repeated assault and injury. “At the time, she had not mentioned the miscarriage to anyone,” they state. They maintain the assertion that Ms. Choi miscarried her first pregnancy due to abuse from Kim Hyun Joong in June of 2014. They also state that he abused her despite the fact that he knew she was pregnant at the time.

According to Ms. Choi, she is currently pregnant and is expected to give birth in September.

Kim Hyun Joong will be entering the army on May 12.
