YG Planning on Debuting New Girl Group This Summer

According to reports, YG Entertainment is planning on debuting a new girl group this summer.

A high-ranking associate from YG told media outlet Star News on May 12 that “YG’s new girl group is aiming for a summer debut, before September.” They further added, “This girl group consists of talented members who have all trained for a minimum of three years.”

“Of course, CEO Yang Hyun Suk is known to be a perfectionist when it comes to music, and he is regularly checking up on them. So their debut plans may change, but as of now, it is highly likely that they will debut this summer.” They continued, “CEO Yang wants this girl group to win the best female artist award at the end-of-the-year award ceremonies, along with iKON‘s best male artist awards.”

They also emphasized that this girl group will be “completely different from anything in the Korean music scene until now.”

So far, Kim Jenny, of G-Dragon‘s “That XX” music video, and Kim Ji Soo have been confirmed to be part of this girl group. It has been reported that “K-Pop Star 3‘s” Jang Hanna will not be part of the group.

YG is also rumored to be preparing for iKON’s debut, as well as comebacks from Lee Hi, Akdong Musician, and Epik High. As for Winner, it appears that they will aim for a late-August or early-September comeback, due to Mino‘s participation in “Show Me the Money 4.”
